Youth Swimming

Throughout the course of the year WECMRD offers swimming programs for all ages and abilities at two of our three pools (Gypsum Rec Center & Eagle Pool). Please note the Eagle Pool is only open during the summer. 2018 Eagle Pool Passes and Punch Cards are on sale now, learn more.  Please see below for youth swimming class descriptions.

2018 Summer Aqua Eagles Swim Team | Monday – Thursday June 4th – July 26th | 7:30am-8:30am (Ages 10+) OR 8:30am-9:30am (Ages 6-9) | 4x per week $199 OR 2x per week $149
Aqua Eagles is a recreational youth swim team that focuses on technique, teamwork and fun! Successfully completing Learn-to-Swim Level 4 is a pre-requisite for Aqua Eagles. During the indoor season there are no swim meets. LEARN MORE & REGISTER.

Learn-To-Swim Level 1 | Two Days A Week | Ages 6+ | $38
This American Red Cross course introduces basic aquatic skills while supported by the instructor. Students learn skills such as floating, breath control, submersion, arm/leg movements and water safety. This class is for children who have never had lessons or need more time practicing skills while being held up by the instructor.

Learn-To-Swim Level 2 | Two Days A Week | Ages 6+ | $38
This American Red Cross course builds on basic aquatic skills learned in Level 1 or Trout. The focus of Level 2 is to master skills such as floating, submersion, gliding, and elementary backstroke so students can perform these skills independent of support from an instructor.

Learn-To-Swim Level 3 | Two Days A Week | Ages 6+ | $38
This American Red Cross course teaches stroke development and more advance water safety skills such as treading water. Strokes include front crawl and back crawl. The focus of this level is on coordination, rotary breathing, and timing.

Learn-To-Swim Level 4 | Two Days A Week | Ages 6+ | $38
This American Red Cross course works on endurance for previously learned strokes and swimmers are introduced to breaststroke, sidestroke, flip turns, and butterfly. Level 4 is a pre-requisite for Aqua Eagles Swim Team.

Learn-To-Swim Tadpoles | Two Days A Week | Age 3 | $38
This American Red Cross course introduces basic aquatic skills while supported by the instructor. Students learn skills such as floating, breath control, submersion, arm/leg movements and water safety. This level is for 3-year olds to get them ready for Preschool Aquatics Levels. Students must be toilet trained and able to safely work with an instructor without a parent in the water. Swimmers who complete Tadpoles can move on to Guppies (Preschool Level 2) when they turn 4 years old.

Learn-To-Swim Minnows (Preschool Level 1) | Two Days A Week | Ages 4-5 | $38
This American Red Cross course introduces basic aquatic skills while supported by the instructor. Students learn skills such as floating, breath control, submersion, arm/leg movements and water safety. This level is for preschoolers who have never had lessons before. This course covers similar curriculum to Tadpoles, the difference is the age group.

Learn-To-Swim Guppies (Preschool Level 2) | Two Days A Week | Ages 4-5 | $38
This American Red Cross course builds on basic aquatic skills learned in Minnows or Tadpoles. The focus of Guppies is to master skills such as floating, submersion, gliding, and elementary backstroke so students can perform these skills independent of support from an instructor.

Learn-To-Swim Trout (Preschool Level 3) | Two Days A Week | Ages 4-5 | $38
This American Red Cross course teaches advanced stroke development swimming for preschoolers who can swim independently and are ready to coordinate their arms, legs, body position, breathing and timing into strokes.

Learn-To-Swim Parent and Child | Ages 6 months-3 years | $38
This is an age-based American Red Cross water orientation program. It is designed to teach parents, with an instructor’s assistance, how to safely and effectively introduce their child to the water with emphasis on water adjustment. One parent per child ratio required. Snug fitting plastic pants or swim diaper must be worn under bathing suits.
